Local Youth Program Aims to Bridge Gap Between Youth and the Needs of Industry

Sarnia, ON Lambton College in partnership with Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC), Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP), and Sarnia-Lambton Industrial Alliance (SLIA) are pleased to announce a new youth education program that aims to benefit local individuals between the ages of 15-29. The Sarnia Youth Skills Connection (YSC) program, set to be rolled out in Sarnia-Lambton in the coming weeks, is a program made up of five individual courses designed to fit into the mandate of bridging the gap between the current skills of youth and the skills needed by industry.

The five courses that have been identified to address the skills gap in Sarnia-Lambton include:

Advanced Manufacturing and Materials
Biomass Harvesting and Logistics
Business Development, Marketing and Sales
Enterprise Project Management (Primavera P6)
Internet of Things and Modern Web Specialist

The program is free for participants who fit the criteria, however local businesses who wish to pay their own registration fees will also have the opportunity to enroll participants for training. Program intake will begin March 1 with programs beginning May 8. Classes will be held on various sites including at Lambton College and the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park.
